About Us
Marcel's Way was founded in the summer of 2003 as a support group to assist families affected by
Mitochondrial Disorders by Paula Raymond, Marcel's mother. Today we have grown to include a Family Fund to
offer financial assistance, Family Support Groups, social events for the whole family, annual area events,
fund raising efforts and an extensive and informative web-site.
In 2005 we started the Family Fund as a way to offer financial assistance to individuals and families with
medical expenses, equipment and other costs. Already we have provided several families with funding for
medicines, home renovations, special equipment purchases and to cover the cost of needed medical testing
not covered by insurance.
Offering Support Groups throughout New Hampshire, Marcel's Way brings families and parents together with compassion, empathy, and friendship. They find comfort in knowing that they are not alone. Educational presentations are offered at the support group meetings by professionals in various fields giving families the tools they need to make informed decisions and to help pave the way that is ahead of them. The meetings are scheduled for Saturday afternoons with babysitting and children's activities available so the parents may attend to the speakers and talk with other families.
We also have Social events for the whole family throughout the year. This is another wonderful opportunity to meet others who share your concerns, doctors, therapists and medicinal issues.
The annual area events include an awareness walk and a charity golf tournament to help increase awareness of
Marcel's Way, Mitochondrial Disease and to help our fund raising efforts.
